Get involved - give your time
For over 50 years the lifeblood of the Social Centre has been its volunteers, we are so grateful for the support offered by our amazing team.
As an independent charity, we believe in the power of community, and with your help, we can make an even bigger impact. Volunteering with us is a chance to make new connections, enjoy yourself, and create positive change in Northchurch and beyond.
Whether you have an hour or two a month, or are looking for a more regular commitment, there’s a place for you! Here’s how you can get involved:
Community Coffee Helper: chat with visitors at our Friday morning sessions
Committee Members & Trustees: guide our charity’s mission and grow our impact
Community Garden Volunteers: roll up your sleeves and help nurture our green spaces
Events: organising, hosting, or helping out at events that bring joy to our neighbours
Distribution of Leaflets/Newsletters: spread the word about the charity’s efforts, events, and the support we offer
Handy Person: planting, fixing, or tidying - your help will ensure that our spaces are safe, inviting, and functional for all.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out this short form to express your interest (it doesn’t commit you to anything!) and we will be in touch. If you’d rather, please email gillian@Northchurch-social-centre.co.uk, or pop in to see Centre Manager Linzi on Friday mornings for an informal chat. Thank you!
Support our events
One thing you can do without much effort at all is to simply support our community events as an attendee - bring your friends and family, and spread the word! We run a few events a year such as our annual Community Open Day, dance events, quizzes, bingo nights and more! See our upcoming events here.
Donate to the centre - a key local charity
Northchurch Social Centre is at the heart of our community, supporting residents near and far for over 50 years with a space to meet, learn, play, dance, grow, socialise and flourish together – it’s more than just a hall for hire! As a charity, we are always fundraising to enable us to better meet the needs of our community - whether through events or the redevelopment of our Centre building.
Financial or material contributions will support critical refurbishments to ensure our building is fit for purpose for years to come – some ideas….
sponsor new tables for the main hall from £200 each
contribute to the full cost of extension for front of Centre - £225,000
new windows in the small hall - £8,000
new comfortable chairs for small hall - £200 each
refurbishment of our toilets - £15,000
pro-bono construction work would also be welcomed!
